How to register your business

When registering your business, two options are possible: to establish an enterprise or register as an individual entrepreneur. The option of registering an IP is simpler and less costly and involves a minimum of documents, which are not difficult to prepare.

If you don’t know where to go on the registration of individual entrepreneurs, start by looking for a tax office that deals with this issue. Often this is the same inspection where you are registered as a taxpayer at the address of your registration at the place of residence. But in some constituent entities of the Russian Federation, a separate registration authority is engaged in this.

You can find out this point by calling the Federal Tax Service for your region, or on the website of the Federal Tax Service of Russia using the IFTS search service. The search is carried out at the address of your registration, and in its results you will see the inspection serving you, and (if available) registering, their addresses, numbers, phone numbers and opening hours.

In many regions, but not everywhere, the application form for state registration of IP can be taken in tax. If this is not possible, this form is available on the Internet. It is also more convenient, since the application downloaded in electronic form can be completed on a computer.

Filling out the application should not cause difficulties. Counts that are not related to you (for example, about documents of a foreigner, if you are a Russian) simply do not need to be filled out. You should not write anything in the sections intended to be filled by a notary and a tax inspector.

Verify the completed document with a notary, fasten the sheets, on the back, stick the paper indicating their number, date and signature.

You can take the receipt for payment of state duty in the tax (not everywhere), take the details on the website of the regional Federal Tax Service or form on the website of the Federal Tax Service of Russia. Do not forget if in your region a new business entity is registered by an inspection other than the one that serves your registration address, indicate precisely its number and details.

You can pay the fee at any branch of Sberbank of Russia.

Now it remains only to refer the finished package of documents to the tax, and after five working days to pick up the certificate of registration of IP and the extract and the USRIP from there.

With these documents you can get statistics codes, open a bank account, order a seal (it indicates your OGRIP, which contains a certificate of state registration in this status) and start activities.
