How to open a drawing in a compass

The main task that the COMPASS-3D system solves is product modeling. At the same time, two goals are pursued at once, namely, a significant reduction in the design period and the speedy launch of models in production.

Sometimes there is a need to open a drawing that was previously created using another program. For example, consider the option of transferring a drawing from AutoCAD. How can such an operation be done? We will analyze in sequence all the necessary actions.

In fact, there is nothing complicated. Those drawings that are designed in AutoCAD, as a rule, have the format AutoCAD DWG or AutoCAD DXF. And in order to open them in Compass, activate the following options: File-> Open-> File Type AutoCAD DXF / AutoCAD DWG, and specify the file name in the desired folder.

Sometimes it is not necessary to specify exactly those types of files that were given above. You can select the option "All files" and find the drawing you need in the folder yourself.

There is one more option. Right-click on the desired file, and then select the following options in the context menu in the order in which they are listed: Open with-> Select program-> Compass-3D LT. In this case, the program will do everything for you, that is, it will automatically translate the necessary drawing into the appropriate format. That's basically it. Now you can safely work.

A little digression. If there are too many drawings, and the files in the folder are presented in different formats, then it is best to use either the first or the last option.
