How to restore a license

In accordance with the current Russian legislation, a license for the right to purchase long-barreled (hunting) weapons is issued for six months. During this time, the license holder must decide on the acquisition of weapons or hand over the license to the licensing authorities that issued it. Extension and restoration of a license is not provided by law.

As for the carrying and storage of weapons for self-defense, such a license is issued for a period of five years. The license gives the right to purchase no more than five weapons in a specified period.

License for the purchase of smooth-bore weapons, issue within two weeks from the date of acquisition of weapons, which is subject to mandatory registration. Re-registration is required every five years. The presence of a license entitles its holder to purchase five units of smoothbore, short-barreled and rifled weapons. If this is not enough, in accordance with the law it is necessary to formalize the collection.

The right to obtain a license is enjoyed by adult citizens with a permanent residence, not registered with a neuropsychiatric and narcological dispensary, without a criminal record for a deliberate crime, and who have not committed a repeated administrative violation during the year. In addition, the license applicant must be mentally healthy and have good eyesight.

The weapons license is issued by permitting departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs at the place of residence. It is necessary to provide a personally filled out application card there, present a passport and a photocopy of the spread of its second and third pages, two photographs on matte paper 3x4 cm in size, a medical certificate (form 046-1) and a receipt for payment of state duty.

You should also be aware that a rifle license is issued only after five years of legal possession of smoothbore weapons. In this case, a prerequisite is the presence at the place of residence of a special safe for storing weapons.

If you change your residence registration, renew your weapons permit within two weeks. An expired rifle license can be renewed only after a year. If the license for smooth-bore weapons turned out to be expired, a rifle permit can be issued only one year after the extension of the license for smooth-bore weapons.
