How to choose a construction SRO

Today in Russia there are over 270 self-regulatory organizations in the field of construction. In each large city, from one to ten local SROs operate, plus a dozen branches and official representations of interregional organizations. Needless to say, in such an abundance of choice, entrepreneurs are often lost. Meanwhile, much depends on in which particular self-regulatory organization the company will be.

Membership Terms

One of the main criteria for choosing an SRO is membership conditions, which each self-regulatory organization has its own. So, SROs can independently determine the amount of entrance and monthly membership fees. Legislation does not regulate the size of these mandatory contributions and, as a rule, depends only on the number of SRO members themselves and the size of their apparatus.

Often, it is the amount of regular contributions to the SRO that is the main selection criterion.

SRO standards

Many SROs set their own standards for members. They represent clear requirements for the implementation of various types of standard work. During verification checks, the SRO checks members for compliance with these standards.

Thus, a company that has joined such an organization has an additional reputation plus, because the quality of certain work is strictly controlled by the SRO.

Speaking about the standards themselves, most often - this is a list of standards developed by the national association of builders. These requirements were based on strict standards based on world standards.

SRO reputation

The second important criterion is the reputation of the SRO. Recently, there has been an activation of supervisory authorities to identify "commercial" SROs - organizations that are formally suitable for performing the functions of a self-regulatory organization. Thus, members of this type of self-regulatory organization should be aware of the full degree of responsibility of the choice made.

Signs of an unreliable SRO are quite simple. First of all, if the partnership consists of more than a thousand members from all over Russia, then probably such a self-regulatory organization cannot adequately fulfill its functions. The best choice is an SRO, located in the same region where the organization operates. In this case, it will be much easier to solve issues on changing the types of tolerances and conditions of membership.
