The dimensions of a business card must comply with international standards, if only because most manufacturers of accessories - business card holders, envelopes, wallets - are oriented specifically at them. However, small assumptions towards increasing or decreasing the size of a business card are still possible.

Choose the size according to your gender. So, it is believed that the standard size of business cards for men is 90 × 50 mm, for women - 80 × 40. Nevertheless, if you are an ardent supporter (supporter) of gender equality, it is advisable to still adhere to the values ​​of standard sizes or close to them.

If you keep in touch with other states (business, friendly), you can choose the size of business cards in accordance with the standards adopted in another country. However, there are some nuances here. So, the European standard of business cards is 85 × 55 mm, however, if you often communicate with representatives of the Scandinavian countries, it is better to adhere to the values ​​of 90 × 55 mm (the same parameters are valid for Australia and New Zealand).

If you work with Americans and Canadians, you do not have to understand the metric system adopted in these countries. It will be enough if you order business cards measuring 88.9 × 50.8 mm, which is easy when contacting an advertising agency, or when working independently with Microsoft Publisher.

If you maintain business or friendly relations with the Japanese or Hong Kong residents, you will need business cards with dimensions of 91 × 55 mm and 90 × 54 mm, respectively. Residents of China will be happy if you follow the rules of Feng Shui when creating a business card. In accordance with Feng Shui, the standard sizes of business cards adopted in Russia (90 × 50 mm), it is advisable to slightly adjust, as 5 is the number of luck, and 9 is the opposite. But this does not mean at all that you should choose another standard for creating business cards to please the Chinese (or following this teaching of your own free will). It will be quite enough if its front side is divided into 2 unequal parts during registration, the size of which will have favorable values ​​(for example, 90 mm is 53 mm and 37 mm).
