Licensing of certain types of entrepreneurial activity is considered one of the effective tools of state control over private business. For example, in order to open an insurance company or a credit organization, an entrepreneur must first obtain a license.

Russian legislation defines the term "licensing" as "the statutory need to obtain a license, renew it, terminate, suspend or cancel." The object of licensing are some types of entrepreneurial activity. Your business in any of these areas will not be legal until you obtain a license. The law considers the minimum term of validity of a license to be five years, and in some cases it can operate indefinitely.

The list of bodies that have the right to issue a license is indicated in the Decree of the Government of Russia "On licensing certain types of activities." The procedure for obtaining such permission begins with a written application from the entrepreneur to the appropriate licensing authority. It must contain the following information:
- The name of your organization with the physical and legal address;
- the name of the variety of your enterprise (LLC, ZAO, etc.);
- information confirming the fact of registration of your legal entity.
A businessman carrying out his activities in the form of an individual entrepreneur will also have to provide complete information about his place of residence, passport data and TIN.

In addition to the application, provide the licensing authority with copies of the constituent documents (previously notarized) and a receipt on payment of the state duty at Sberbank of the Russian Federation.

After the licensing authority receives all the required documents, a five-day procedure will begin to verify the correctness of the information you provided. After a thorough check of the documents for compliance, the body will decide and draw up a written opinion. In the event of a refusal, it shall indicate the reasons for the refusal and methods for their elimination as soon as possible.
