The Metropol Hotel was erected at the beginning of the 20th century on the initiative of the famous philanthropist Savva Mamontov. The building is an architectural monument of Art Nouveau and is an object of cultural heritage. At the end of the 20th century, Metropol was recognized as one of the best hotels in Moscow and received the 5 star category. At a recent auction, the building was sold. The public is seriously interested in who bought the Metropol, and what awaits it in the future.

The initiator of the sale of a hotel of historical significance was the Moscow City Hall. The starting price for the lot was 8.7 billion rubles. For the acquisition of the Metropol hotel, the buyer had only one step: the final price was 8.874 billion rubles.

The Metropol Hotel was bought by Alexander Klyachin, who occupies the eighth place in the Forbes rating of "Kings of Real Estate 2012", the owner of the Azimut Hotels chain. Until recently, one of the most famous participants in the real estate market in Moscow and Moscow Region was the tenant of this building until 2017. All questions about possible reconstructions in the representative office of the company he headed gave a negative answer.

It was the question of changing the appearance of the building that most worried the public. As you know, the Metropol Hotel is a cultural heritage site. The last reconstruction was carried out in 1991. The hotel includes 362 rooms (72 of them are suites), 10 rooms for events, two restaurants. Metropol is also famous for its collection of paintings located indoors.

Before the auction, the authorities of the capital indicated that the Metropol Hotel must preserve its hotel value. Also, the buyer will need to sign a special security obligation.

Alexander Klyachin became known to Russian citizens more than 10 years ago. To date, the businessman has focused his resources on creating a network of hotels in the country characterized by European 3 and 4 stars. The main condition for their work is accessibility.

Azimut Hotels is recognized as Russia's largest in terms of geographical coverage. Also interesting are the projects for translating Klyachin's innovative ideas: the industrial premises of the former Danilovskaya Manufactory and Red Rose factories were converted into capital lofts. Now you can comfortably live and work there.
