A farm is not only a business, but also a way of life, therefore, in order to create your own poultry farm, you need to be prepared for the fact that you have to spend whole days, weeks, and possibly even months away from the city.

You will need

  • - a plot of land far from the city;

  • -heated house;

  • - equipment for keeping birds (nests, feeders, drinking bowls);

  • tribal chicks.

Instruction manual

1

Purchase or rent a piece of land on which your farm will be located. When calculating the required area, proceed from the fact that you will buy feed for birds all year round, or are going to keep geese on grazing, that is, on pasture. If the latter, then according to existing rules, each goose should have at least 10 meters.

2

Register a farm - for this type of economic activity there is the same legal form. You will not need any permits “at the start”, only later, when the farm begins to function, you will need to get a certificate from the veterinary service about the welfare of your farm - this will help establish sales of your future products.

3

Build the premises necessary for keeping the bird, if there is nothing suitable on the site at your disposal. The poultry house should be well insulated, ideally you need to conduct steam heating or get "brooders" to heat the chicks. It is especially important to maintain a high temperature (at least 25 degrees) in the "tribal zone" where the chicks will be placed.

4

Buy simple equipment for your poultry house, necessary for bird care - nests, feeders, water containers. Find feed suppliers where you can regularly make bulk purchases. If the house will not be heated, take care of powerful heaters (for each room).

5

Get the "tribal" chicks when everything for their life on the farm is ready. Calculate the number of birds based on your abilities and the consideration that a poultry farm with a livestock of less than 500 animals is considered unprofitable.

Useful advice

If you intend to breed ducks, then make sure that a natural or artificial pond is located on the territory of your farm.

Try to capitalize on everything your farm has to offer — find distribution channels for feathers, droppings, and sebaceous glands too.
