How to open a notary public

Only a notary public can open a notary's office. And this means getting the appropriate education and license. Notarial activities cover a lot: this is the certification of transactions, and the preparation of documents for them, as well as the storage of documents and cash deposits. According to the law, a notary public must have a law degree. If you do not have it, you will need to receive it. You can enter the correspondence or evening department, if there is no time or opportunity to study law in the afternoon.

After receiving a legal education or during its receipt, you have to undergo an internship with a notary. Without her, you will not be allowed to take the exam. The internship lasts at least a year for those who have not worked previously in the legal specialty, and at least six months for those who have experience of more than three years. To take this internship, take a notary intern at any notary's office. As a rule, an intern receives a little (from 15 to 30 thousand a month in Moscow), but he acquires the proper experience.

All who wish to become notaries must pass the qualification exam after completing an internship. It is accepted by the qualification commission, formed by the federal executive body that oversees the notarial activities in your region, and representatives of the notarial chamber. If you have not passed the exam, you have the right to pass it again in a year.

Within a month after passing the exam you will be given a license for the right to notarial activity. Based on the recommendation of the notarial chamber and on the basis of a competition that has received a license, they are empowered to carry out such activities. The order of the competition is determined by the Ministry of Justice and the notarial chamber.

A notary public who has passed the competition is appointed to the position and determines the territory on which he must act. It is on this territory that you have the right to open a notary office. The notary may be public or private practice. In the first case, the office is opened for him by the Ministry of Justice or its territorial body.

To open a notary office, it will be necessary to rent a small room (about 20 sq.m) and hire an assistant or an intern who could deal with paperwork. Attract customers by signpost.
