Clothing store owners know how difficult it is to form an optimal assortment. Some customers will miss the right models, while others, on the contrary, will begin to complain about too much choice and the inability to navigate it. Before you buy a new collection, think about how it fits into the format of your store. Without regrets, give up excess inventory, but do not miss the opportunity to offer regular customers an interesting fashionable novelty.

Instruction manual

1

Clearly identify the segment in which you will work. The assortment policy of the store depends on this. For example, to combine trade in children's, women's and men's clothing, you need to have huge areas and keep a significant stock of goods. Stop at a narrower niche. Only sell large size women's clothing, evening gowns, or men's business suits and accessories.

2

Do not try to fit in a small area the maximum number of things. The buyer will not be able to find the right one in a dense row of dresses or suits. Hang and lay out clothes so that any model can be carefully examined, and if necessary, try on.

3

When choosing a new collection for a store, stick to your favorite base colors. For example, when buying fashionable tops in different colors, take some orange, neon pink and ultramarine models that attract attention and a substantial supply of black tops of the same article. After admiring the colorful rainbow, most buyers will choose the usual neutral tone.

4

Choose the optimal size scale. If you make a mistake, then at the end of the season you will see many “frozen” things of the same size. Typically, in a youthful and trendy group, large sizes are considered slow-moving, and in the classic assortment the smallest. If your customers regularly complain that they cannot find the right size, consider expanding the scale. However, remember that this entails additional costs.

5

Increase the amount of the check. Your task is to fully equip the customer, without giving him a reason to contact another store. If you sell jeans, be sure to include in the assortment things with which they can be combined - t-shirts, sweatshirts, tops, shirts. Remember that all these things should be exactly "denim", everyday style. Do not buy classic shirts or blouses with ruffles - they are designed for a completely different buyer.

6

Complete your clothing range with accessories. Regular customers of the brand will be happy to purchase fashionable novelties - glasses, belts, jewelry, scarves or bags. In addition, these colorful items enliven the store’s interior and attract the attention of potential buyers. Change the layout more often, make ready-made sets so that customers can understand what they are wearing and what they wear this season. Accessories should not be dead weight - make them an effective tool for promotion.

7

Do not include shoes in the assortment. Its sale is an independent and rather complicated business. In a standard clothing store, there is usually not enough room for a decent display. In addition, you will need additional storage space for storing boxes - after all, each model must be presented in several sizes.
