Import / export of goods into the customs territory of our country is a strictly regulated procedure by law, the implementation of which is different for individuals and entrepreneurs.

When citizens cross the border of the Russian Federation and carry any types of goods by them, the requirements imposed by the rules of import and export of goods must be observed. These rules apply depending on whether the given citizen is a natural person or whether the imported / exported goods are related to entrepreneurial activity of the given citizen. The difference in the rules is primarily due to the need to pay customs duties.

According to the rules that entered into force on 1.07.2010, individuals who import goods into the territory of the country are fully exempted from any customs duties if they comply with certain conditions for the goods:
- its import is carried in accompanied / unaccompanied baggage;
-It is not intended for commercial or industrial activities;
-total weight no more than 50 kg;
-total cost no more than 1500 euros according to the CBR exchange rate on the day of import.

Separate requirements relate to the importation of alcoholic products (not more than 3 liters) and tobacco products (not more than 250 grams) per person.

Import and export of currency is not declared if the amount of cash in any currencies does not exceed the equivalent of 10 thousand US dollars. If there is a larger amount on hand, a customs declaration must be issued on it (the contents of bank cards are not subject to declaration).

For private entrepreneurs importing goods for commercial activities, the rules for paying state duties and compliance with economic policies of the Russian Federation are established. The carrier must deliver the goods to one of the legally established checkpoints (may be different for different types of goods) and present a package of documents for customs clearance, which depends, among other things, on the transport by which the goods are transported.

To date, a single form of customs declaration has been introduced, which must be filled in for all types of transported goods subject to declaration.

It should be clarified in advance whether there is a quota or a ban on the goods that you intend to import into the territory of the Russian Federation.
