A consumer cooperative is an association of citizens or legal entities on a voluntary basis. The specific forms and goals of creating such a non-profit organization may be different, but the process of organizing all types of cooperatives has much in common. So, the stages of creating a cooperative community on the example of such a popular structure as a credit consumer cooperative.

Start creating a credit cooperative with the formation of an initiative group of three to five people. This core of the future organization should clearly understand the goals and objectives of the association of shareholders. A credit union is created to meet the needs of its members in loan-saving services. The financial basis of the credit cooperative is the unification of personal finances for their subsequent joint use under the management and control of all members of the collective.

Include in the initiative group a person who owns the basics of financial literacy or work experience as an accountant (economist). Since the activities of the consumer cooperative will be associated with the management of financial flows, such knowledge will be very useful.

Together with other members of the asset, work among potential members of the cooperative, explaining to them the prospects for unification and the benefits of cooperative financial management. At the same time, determine the principles of building the organization, namely: a territorial or production community will become the basis of the association.

Organize and hold the first meeting of future cooperative members who have expressed a desire to participate in its creation. Notify all interested parties about the place, time of the meeting and the agenda.

In preparation for the meeting, focus on developing a credit union charter. Choose several options for the name of the cooperative, look for a legal address. Pre-determine the possible size of the entry and share fee, as well as the loan program. When preparing documents, use the provisions of civil law governing the activities of consumer cooperatives, as well as special laws on credit cooperation.

After the first (organizational) event, set a time for the Constituent Assembly. On the agenda, bring him questions about the establishment of a credit consumer cooperative, the adoption of the Charter, the election of governing bodies of the organization. Appoint chairman and secretary of the meeting, ensure clear record keeping.

After the results of the meeting are approved by the members of the newly created cooperative, prepare the documents necessary for its state registration, including the Charter, the minutes of the Constituent Assembly, a receipt on payment of state duty and a statement. Submit the completed documents to the tax authority at the location of the cooperative’s legal address.

After the registration procedure is completed, carry out registration for all relevant types of accounts, including extrabudgetary funds. Open a bank account by notifying the tax authorities within five days. Now the newly created consumer cooperative has the right to carry out activities prescribed by law to provide its members with financial assistance on a reciprocal basis.
