Why planning is needed

A person is faced with planning every day and every hour throughout his entire conscious life. Whatever it is about - household work, work, the activities of a small modest company, a huge corporation or an entire industry - one cannot do without a plan. That is, of course, you can make such an attempt, but it will not end in anything good.

It would seem that it’s simpler: it’s reasonable, prudent to keep the housekeeping, but without even a rough plan, the family will “not fit” into the budget over and over again. That wife will not resist the temptation to acquire an expensive, but completely useless trinket. That husband will buy at all those products that were needed. Because of this, there are quarrels, conflicts. But this is not so bad; it will be much worse if it turns out that a thoughtlessly taken loan has nothing to repay.

And that organization, whose leadership acts on the principle of “somehow living without any planning, ” is unlikely to stand in the competition. Just because it does not have time (or fails, or rather) to react to the changing situation properly. Suppose a firm stubbornly continues to produce (or import from abroad) equipment, the demand for which has declined sharply. And similar firms, having analyzed the needs of the market, timely planned the transition to other types of equipment and implemented this. What will happen to a stubborn organization? It will either go bankrupt or, at best, incur big losses.

Or, for example, a construction organization, having won a difficult tender, begins work on the construction of a large residential complex. And suddenly it turns out that she does not have the opportunity to provide construction with a sufficient amount of cement. Because the employees of the procurement department showed negligence without planning the delivery of this necessary material. We relied on suppliers, and those do not have additional free volumes of cement, everything has already been scheduled in advance and paid for. In order not to disrupt the construction period, we have to feverishly buy cement from resellers, of course, at a much higher price. The profit received by the construction company will naturally be lower.

What can we say about industries that unite many hundreds of related enterprises. There you can’t do without planning. Since the slightest failure in the operation of one of them will lead to the fact that a chain of dozens of factories and factories is “in a fever”.

So it turns out that planning is an absolutely necessary thing. Without it, you can easily find yourself in a position of grief - “commanders” about whom the malicious saying has long been folded: “It was smooth on paper, but forgot about the ravines. And walk on them!”
