The skating rink is a great place for outdoor activities, to which many devote their free time. If you set a goal to start your own business, an ice rink can be a good option. You may not be able to arrange a full-fledged television show on ice, but it is quite possible to give the townspeople hours of unforgettable rest.

Identify the type of rink you can organize. Places for ice skating are of the following types: open skating rinks, skating rinks under a steel canopy and under inflatable structures. The first option requires the least investment, the second skating rink is the most expensive construction. In a small town, it is quite possible to organize skiing on a site under an inflatable structure.

Determine the circle of customers your company might be interested in. The main incomes are formed due to the mass attraction of visitors. Other categories of customers are hockey players as well as children's figure skating schools. Keep in mind that rental fees from children’s groups will be significantly lower than the income from renting the rink for training hockey teams.

Calculate the profitability of the enterprise. Include skate rental for your visit. The more visitors at the rink, the higher the cost of the service. This is due primarily to the fact that mass skating increases the overhead associated with the preparation, cleaning and restoration of the ice cover. One of the types of additional income that you can provide is advertising. It can be the most diverse: banners on the rink's sides, drawings on ice, printing of advertising texts on tickets, advertising on the broadcasting network, etc.

Determine whether you will build a skating rink, buy it or rent it. Building an ice rink in the open air can be a very costly undertaking and will require several hundred thousand euros. If you are ready to take on such costs, carefully select the company that will undertake such construction. Include the purchase of equipment (skates, ice-cleaning machine, refrigeration unit) in the expensive part of the project.

The device of the roller under the inflatable structure, as already mentioned, is more affordable. The advantage of this design is its high lifting speed. But this skating rink will also require special equipment.

An alternative way to open the rink is to rent. It will avoid the cost of construction and installation work. The main difficulties associated with negotiating with the owners of the rink. Rent a skating rink only if such a solution is cost-effective.
