The sewing department is a fairly correct option, since now they sew a lot: for both themselves and to order, as a hobby and professionally. In practice, first you need to decide on the room in which your sewing department will be located, what kind of area it will be: a small shop or a large sewing store. The assortment will depend on the size of the outlet. If you have a small area, such as a kiosk or a small department in a shopping center, then it is better to start selling sewing accessories and textile haberdashery: threads, buttons, zippers, braid, lace, cords, edging, ribbons, needles, applied materials, various decorative trifles. If space permits, you can add lining fabrics to the assortment. All this is indispensable in the sewing craft, but does not require large premises and serious investments. If you are new to sewing, you can start by selling haberdashery and expand your assortment over time.

If you have a more substantial material base, and you are ready to make more serious investments in the business, open a sewing department for the sale of fabrics. Of course, you can also trade in accessories, you even need to, but it will be an accompanying product. You need to be well prepared for the purchase of fabrics. Firstly, a theoretical basis is needed - knowledge about the types of tissues, their characteristics. Secondly, about the quality of fabrics from different manufacturers. Now almost all serious suppliers have their own websites, which contain information about their assortment, prices and purchasing conditions. This greatly facilitates the process of wholesale purchases, because just a few years ago I had to travel to explore and purchase in the UAE, Italy, Turkey on my own, and then return with a load.

But trips cannot be completely avoided if you want to meet the requirements of the modern market. You must go to exhibitions to conclude contracts and select new products in the range. The choice is enormous now, and often the owners of sewing stores literally use their hands to sort the rolls of fabrics in the warehouses of suppliers to find the right item for their store. Such trips are best carried out with the expectation of the season - before the summer to import light tissue, and to the cold - dense, winter.

4

It is very important to select competent staff in the store, it is better with a specialized education or sewing skills, since not only dressmakers who know what they need come for fabrics, but also simple shoppers who definitely need advice on what fabric is suitable for sewing one or another things, how it is cut, and how to care for the thing of this fabric. Sellers should be able to correctly measure and calculate the length of the cut. It will be good to establish relations with professional dressmakers who sew to order, you can make them discounts on goods. Surely, they will bring their customers for fabrics and accessories to your sewing department.

In order for your business to develop, keep abreast of new products, follow the trends in the fashion world, the offers of the textile industry, you are always in search of original and profitable partner suppliers - in general, be on the wave!
