You can start cargo transportation in two ways, focusing either on your own fleet of trucks, or on forwarding services, when you will select carriers "to the side" to complete the orders. As experience shows, it is most advisable to combine both of these options in your practice.

  • - equipped office with convenient access roads;

  • - several freight forwarders in the company;

  • - base of carriers (in case you do not have the resources to complete the order yourself);

  • - drivers to work on the company's own machines.

Evaluate your capabilities and calculate which fleet of trucks you are able to form at the initial stage. The creation of a large transport company is impossible without the acquisition of at least a dozen trucks of various formats under a leasing scheme. If you do not have the means to form such a fleet, limit yourself to a few cars and focus on forwarding services.

Rent an office space in a place with convenient access roads, preferably on the outskirts of the city. There should be a multi-line telephone and Internet-connected computers. Find one or two dispatchers-logisticians (it’s good if with your carrier bases) who will work for you according to the scheme “small salary + percentage of payment for the order”.

Pick a few drivers to work on your own vehicles of your new transport company. As the fleet expands, the problem of finding a driver’s staff will become more acute - for companies providing freight delivery services, this is always a difficult task. It is better to immediately develop for yourself a methodology for checking the "reputation" of drivers whom you will hire.

Start looking for customers, plan a promotion for this and select the tools with which you will promote your company. The Internet is becoming an increasingly effective way to find a customer for a freight carrier. It would be advisable not only to create a page for your company, but also to use electronic cargo exchanges, which in RuNet already have many (both regional and federal).

Try to invest all funds in expanding the fleet of vehicles, so that over time you get the opportunity to complete any order yourself.

First of all, look for "corporate" customers who will work with you constantly, and not one-time orders - the first ones will allow you to develop, and not just cover all available expense items of the company.
