How to register a small business

Russian laws do not require special registration for small enterprises. It is enough to go through the standard state registration and meet the main criterion by which firms and entrepreneurs belong to small businesses - up to 100 employees. But, for example, in Moscow there is a register of small businesses, for which the applicant must go through a series of formalities.

Prepare the documents necessary for presentation to employees of the service of one window of the support department for small and medium-sized businesses. For companies, this is a current extract from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, a power of attorney for a representative (certified by the signature of the head and seal, not required if the documents are submitted by the general director himself), statistics codes, profit and loss statement for the last reporting year and information on the average number of employees with a tax mark. LLCs provide a list of participants in the enterprise with an indication of each share in the authorized capital, and joint-stock companies - a list of shareholders certified by the registrar.

Prepare documents required by the entrepreneur, if you have one. This is a current extract from the Unified State Register of Enterprises, information on the average number of employees for the last reporting period, and the declaration for the previous year with a tax mark.

Do not worry if little time has passed since the registration of your company or individual entrepreneur and you should never have reported on the average number of employees and financial results. In your situation, these documents are not needed.

With all documents and an A4 envelope during business hours, visit the nearest one-stop service of the SME Support Department. Usually it is located in the same room as the business development center of your administrative district.

Get the application form with applications and fill it out. Appendix No. 1, intended for information on branches and representative offices, does not need to be completed if you do not have either one or the other. Legal entities for which the reporting deadline for the year has not yet come, does not need to fill out Appendix No. 3 to the application.

At the time specified by the one-window service workers, visit it again and receive a certificate of entry into the register of small and medium-sized enterprises.

Find out if there are similar registries in your region if you are and are not registered in Moscow. If so, you can get all the information on how to get into this register on the website of your regional center for entrepreneurship development or on a personal visit there.

The inclusion of small and medium-sized businesses in the Moscow register does not give any benefits and preferences. However, there is no need to pay money for depositing into it. But its status as a small or medium-sized enterprise will have to be confirmed annually.
