How to start a sewing business

If you know how to sew and understand fashion, then the sewing business is for you. A small sewing workshop (up to 10 masters) is capable of producing up to 50 items per day. The cost of opening it will be small: it is the rental of premises and salaries to staff.

According to statistics, more than half of all clothing items worn by Europeans are sewn in the CIS and third world countries. For a small sewing workshop, you need a room with an area of ​​about 50 sq.m. Where your premises will be located does not matter. Therefore, you can rent it in a residential area, as it is cheaper.

First you will need 8-10 employees. It will be possible to pay them piece by piece (percentage of each order, etc.). You will also need to hire a visiting accountant.

If you are not very aware of what equipment is needed for the sewing workshop, find out from potential workers - as a rule, experienced craftsmen are very well versed in such things. Any equipment can be either bought or rented, which will be cheaper. At a minimum, you will need one sewing machine for each worker, a buttonhole semi-automatic machine for sweeping a straight buttonhole, a button semi-automatic machine, and an iron.

To make your business legal, register with the local tax office as an individual entrepreneur. For this you will need to pay a state fee of 800 rubles.

The profitability of the sewing business depends on how soon you can find regular customers. These may be markets, shops, well-known brands that decided to reduce costs by attracting inexpensive labor. The latter option is likely even when you are untwisted. As for the first two, you will need to give advertising (via online mailing or calls). The sooner you give it, the more customers you can attract.
